About Millicent Omanga
Millicent Omanga, born in Kiamokama, Kisii County, in 1981, spent her formative years in Rongai, Kajiado, attending Mumbi Girls High School.
After completing high school, she initially pursued a course at Medical Training College but faced financial constraints, leading to her discontinuation.
Determined to overcome challenges, Millicent then opted for a journalism course at the University of Nairobi, where she successfully completed her studies. She further pursued a Master’s Degree in Commerce at the same institution.
Hailing from a family of seven daughters, Millicent faced adversity early when her father, a mechanic at the Postal Corporation of Kenya, passed away in a road accident when she was only 17. Her mother, Joyce, took on the responsibility of raising the seven daughters.
Millicent Omanga gained recognition when appointed director at KenGen in 2013, a position she held until 2017. Transitioning into politics and business, she founded Milways Enterprises, specializing in construction, interior décor, and imported furniture.
Her political journey began in 2017 when she contested the Nairobi Women Representative position, eventually losing to Esther Passaris. Despite the setback, she received a nomination to the Jubilee Party as a Senator, holding the position until 2022.
In the 2022 elections, she ran for the same seat under President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party, facing another defeat to Esther Passaris.
