About Thika Technical Training Institute (Thika TTI)
Established in 1949 as a vocational training center for soldiers returning from World War II, Thika Technical Training Institute (Thika TTI) has evolved into a middle-level public technical college situated in Thika Town, Kiambu County. Governed by the Ministry of Education, State Department for Vocational and Technical Training, under certificate number MOHEST/GC/1459/011A, this Government Technical Training Institute spans across 45 acres of land.
Thika TTI’s history traces back to its origins as a vocational training center for World War II servicemen. Over the years, it transitioned into a technical high school, admitting primary graduates for secondary education with a technical bias. Its strategic location along General Kago Road, next to Thika Level 5 District Hospital, makes it a central hub for technical education in the region.
Thika TTI’s mission is to offer Training, Research, and Outreach Programs that impart skills and utilize applied knowledge to stimulate economic growth and address societal challenges. The vision of the institute is to become the center of excellence in Technical, Industrial, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Training.
